Snow-Down for Habitat is March 17—Come One, Come All

Bear Valley, CA...Snow-Down for Habitat is March 17—Come One, Come All. Join Habitat for Humanity Calaveras and Bear Valley Cross Country for an invigorating day of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing for all levels of expertise on Sunday, March 17. Along with the skiing or snowshoeing we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We encourage everyone to wear at least a touch of green. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. This 2nd annual “Snow-Down for Habitat”, sponsored by Bear Valley Cross Country offers a fun day in the snow to benefit Habitat for Humanity Calaveras. Choose cross-country skis or snowshoes and follow the beautiful trails on a scavenger hunt for Habitat...

Marked trails of varying length and difficulty offer challenges for all and will feature special stops for refreshments, information about Habitat and camaraderie. Paul Peterson of Bear Valley Cross Country will offer mini cross country ski lessons at approximately 10 a.m.

Ticket prices are $50 for adults and $40 for children 12 and under. The price includes equipment rental and trail passes for the day (you will receive a discount of $10 if you bring your own equipment) and an après-ski lunch at Sky High Pizza and Pub in the Bear Valley Village Center. The lunch provided by Sky High Pizza and Pub will include an all-you-can-eat pizza and salad buffet. Non-alcoholic drinks are free. Drawings for prizes will take place at Sky High Pizza when lunch is served between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m.

During the lunch hour Nedra Russ and Julio “Inglasses” Guerra will perform American blues capturing the spirit of their home in the backwoods of the Sierra Foothills.

Snow-Down for Habitat is a fundraiser to provide funds to help build and repair homes for people in need in Calaveras County. Tickets may be purchased at Bear Valley Cross Country 209-753-2834 prior to the event and on the day of the event. You may also call the following numbers to purchase tickets or for additional information: Frank Meyer, Habitat for Humanity Calaveras office (open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon, 209-754-5331), or Alice Williams, 209-728-9420.

About Habitat for Humanity Calaveras Habitat for Humanity Calaveras (www.habitatcalaveras,org) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (www.habitat.org) and shares the national organization’s mission of building affordable homes for and with families in need of decent housing.
Families in Calaveras County in need of housing apply and are selected without
favoritism or discrimination, but they must contribute time in building the homes and be credit-worthy to qualify for the no-interest first mortgage and forgivable second mortgage to meet low monthly payments. Habitat provides a hand up not a hand out and is continually looking for low cost property or donations of property to continue its mission to build affordable housing. For more information about Habitat for Humanity Calaveras, call the Habitat office Monday though Thursday, 9 am to noon at 209 754-5331.
