Sonora, CA—About SCORE: Known since its inception in 1964 as “Senior Corps of Retired Executives”, SCORE has broadened its scope, and is now referred to as “Counselors to America’s Small Business”. SCORE is a resource partner with the U. S. Small Business Administration, and is a 501c (3) non-profit association dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small business. SCORE is a nationwide network of more than 14,000 volunteers at 374 local offices. SCORE offers a wide range of services, including face-to-face business counseling, workshops, and educational seminars. Many of these seminars and workshops are free or at minimal cost to attend...
SCORE of Tuolumne County is currently looking to add to its group of volunteers. One of the great attributes about a SCORE volunteer is each individual’s commitment to helping our area’s small business community. Volunteers are typically working or retired business managers and owners who have enjoyed business success, and want to help others succeed with the benefit of their skills, knowledge, and experience in owning and operating a business.
All SCORE volunteers are guided by a Code of Ethics to protect each client’s privacy, and all counseling sessions are strictly confidential. It is a misconception that a SCORE volunteer must be retired; anyone actively engaged in the ownership or operation of a business is encouraged to participate. A chapter meeting is held once each month to bring volunteers up-to-date on current events, and the only other commitment is to have 1 to 2 hours available monthly to contact client applicants.
