“Fix my Ride flow” Consumer Petition Launched Asking Progressive To Fix Damaged Vehicle

Arnold, CA- A petition is being launched today calling on Progressive Insurance Company’s iconic (and some would say irritating) fictional spokes-character, Flo, to step up and fix a vehicle damaged by a Progressive Insurance Company policyholder. The accident occurred on February 13, 2012 in the parking lot of the Bear Valley Ski Area. An under-aged driver, who was insured as per state law requirements, lost control of her vehicle and slammed into eight parked cars. The under-aged drive remained on the scene, notified authorities and provided her insurance information to the owners of the vehicles that were damaged during the accident....

“On the very first call I made to Progressive Insurance Co. to report the damage to my vehicle I was informed that I should instead ask my personal insurance to cover the cost of fixing my vehicle,” said Warren Alford, who is launching the petition. “They seem to have a system in place to shift their responsibility on to others- if I don't act, they'll keep doing it.”

Progressive representatives repeatedly told Alford that they would take a long time to process the claim and that they were not going to fully cover the cost of repairing the damage to the vehicle due to the low property damage limit on the policy they sold and that he should get his insurance company to pay for the damage.

“While most people are aware that California requires drivers of automobiles in the state to have insurance to protect citizens from damages resulting from uninsured drivers,” said Alford. “Most people don’t realize that insurance companies are allowed to sell cut-rate policies with coverage amounts so low that they don’t actually provide protection when accidents occur, leaving unsuspecting consumers with inadequate coverage. Besides myself, the other victim was the young lady who bought a defective insurance policy from her pal, Flo.”
