In Loving Memory of Mark Cameron Johnson, of Arnold
Arnold, CA...Mark Cameron Johnson of Arnold passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2012, due to complications of cancer. He was 66. Mark was formally diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and fought a courageous battle for the last four years. Mark was born in Phoenix, AZ, and grew up in Coronado, CA. After graduation from high school, Mark joined the USAF, where he served for 20 years before retiring to a life in Defense Contracting, mostly with TRW, Sunnyvale, CA. During this time he attended Saint Mary’s College of Moraga, CA, earning his degree in Business Management....
Mark retired from TRW in 2003, and in 2005 he moved to his home in Arnold built in 1996. While waiting for his wife Laura to retire, he was very much involved in the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum as a member of the Board of Directors and as a docent, and he also served on the Ebbetts Pass Byway Committee.
Mark had many interests but none as great as model railroading. He did not finish his dream railroad layout, but it will be completed as a tribute to Mark by his wife Laura and his many wonderful friends.
Mark is survived by his wife of 23 years, Laura Beach, his daughter Angela (Jim) Bateman of Arnold, MD, his mother Marguerite Cook of Coronado, CA, brother Scott (Sue) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, and sister Erika (Dennis) Corradi of San Francisco, CA.
Mark also leaves three grandsons, Dylan (Millie) Bateman, Evan Roe, and Jesse Bateman, and a beautiful great granddaughter Sky Bateman born April 30, 2012. Mark is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to those organizations that have supported Mark and so many others: The Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Road, Arnold, CA 95223; Sonora Regional Medical Center, Giving, 1000 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370 ; or Stanford Cancer Center, 875 Blake Wilbur Drive, Stanford, CA 94305.
A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be scheduled in September.
