Forest Service staff Javier and Jeffery plus volunteers Scott and his son, Jane, Rob, Tim, Judy, Steve, and Tony smiling broadly after building one quarter mile of pristine new trail at July trailbulidng day! Please don't miss out on the fun! See details below about next volunteer trailbuidling day, Aug 11th.

Guided Moon Light Hikes, Fridays, Aug 3rd and 31st. Watch the sun set from the top of Cougar Rock on this moderate 5.5 mile round trip hike led by Arnold Rim Trail Association Steering Committee member Dave Edney. If you haven't done one of these hikes, you owe yourself the treat. They are special. Meet at the northeastern most parking area on the ARTA Map on Valley View Drive. Download the map here. No sign-up needed, hike proceeds even if cloudy, but rain cancels. Bring layers, flashlight, snack, and water. Meet at parking lot at 6:30 pm for Aug 3rd hike, and 6:00 pm for hike on August 31st. Return to vehicles about three hours later. Questions? Contact Dave Edney at 209-795-5931.

Parks-Apalooza, Sunday, Aug 5th, 2-6 pm. A celebration of various recreational activities available in Highway 4 corridor. Come to the Logging Museum in White Pines to learn about Arnold Rim Trail, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Calaveras Park and Recreation Commision, Courtwright Emerson Ballpark, Ebbetts Pass Nat'l Scenic Byway, Feeney Park, Mokelumne Coast to Creast Trail, Murphys Community Park, Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, Stanislaus National Forest, and White Pines Park. Admission free. Food and live music.

Volunteer Trail Work Day, Saturday, August 11th, 8:30 am. Please meet at the US Forest Service Station in Hathaway Pines at 8:30 am. After a brief safety orientation by Jeffery Hilson of the USFS, we will car pool to Avery Sheep Ranch Road. We’ll be building trail in a gorgeous new location. Since it gets warm as the morning progresses, please bring layers, gloves, hat, sunscreen, and water. If you have a favorite garden tool like loppers, bring those, but we will have tools for everyone. Folks from eight to eighty-eight are invited; children should have adult supervision. We'll wrap up by noon or earlier.

Calaveras Big Trees State Park "Family Day", Saturday, August 18th
This year for the first time the Arnold Rim Trail Association will have a booth at the Family Day celebration at the State Park. This is a fun day, especially for families with children, but there is something for everyone.
