Blue Mountain Group Awared Grant From Home Depot!
West Point, California, August, 2012 – Through its Community Impact Grants Program, The Home Depot® Foundation has awarded $4,400 to the BMC Workshop of the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council. The donation will be used to replace siding on the West Point Community Hall. “What fantastic encouragement to us to get financial help to enable us to replace the weather-beaten, sun-damaged siding on this magnificent old community hall,” said Sandi Krewski, founder and leader of West Point’s BMC (Saturday-morning) Workshop. “Our team works tirelessly every weekend to improve downtown West Point, and, in particular, the Community Hall...
As we work each week, the speed in our project completion is contingent on our own personal donations. Thanks to the materials your grant provides, and a new partnering with Habitat for Humanity Calaveras, our volunteers will be able to complete this project in short order. Without Home Depot, we would have had to hold years of bake sales and chili cook-offs. We are so very appreciative to receive recognition and support. Thank you, Home Depot.”
The Home Depot Foundation’s Community Impact Grants Program supports the work that local nonprofit organizations, public schools and other community organizations are doing to improve the physical health of their neighborhoods.
“We are delighted to support local volunteer projects aimed at creating and maintaining stable and healthy communities,” said Kelly Caffarelli, president, The Home Depot Foundation. West Point’s BMC Workshop deserves enormous credit for the work it is doing, and we are glad to be part of their efforts.”
About BMC Workshop
West Point’s BMC Workshop is made up of a group of people who get together Saturday mornings to work around town doing whatever is needed for improvement. BMC—Build, Maintain, Create. The members of the group weed-wack, paint, upholster, design, clean, plant, prune, clear, build, refurbish, scrub, etc. The talents and skills and interests of members give direction to the tasks. Anyone who wants to help is welcomed. The BMC workshop supports the mission of the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council to strengthen communities through volunteerism.
