The Passing of the Lisa Torch at CVB Dinner Tonight at Camps ~By John Hamilton

Angels Camp, CA...Tonight was the annual CVB Dinner and going away dinner for Lisa Mayo. Lisa is leaving as Executive Director of the Calaveras County Visitors Bureau after 11 years of service. There were speeches, awards and even proclamations by Calaveras County Board of Supervisors and the City of Angels Camp. The CVB recently appointed Cave and Mine Adventures Marketing Director Lisa Boulton to fill her shoes. It should prove a seamless transition as "The Lisas" have worked side by side on many Tourism related projects over the years. Lisa is also an outgoing member of the CVB board so she is well versed on current issues as well....

Steve Markle watches Lisa Boulton and Lisa Mayo in action at the podium tonight. More photos and video to follow....

Lisa Mayo will be assuming the position of Marketing Director for Tuolumne County. She is also the presumptive person to replace Nancy Sikes rides off into the retirement sunset at some point in the future. In the meantime Lisa Mayo will be able to focus purely on the marketing side which is her first love and natural fit for her skills.

Lisa spoke and thanked many people on her staff, board and others that have helped the CVB along the way. Recognized the dignitaries, politicians in the crowd and board members. At the end of her speech she welcomed incoming executive director Lisa Boulton and Lisa B spent a few minutes before the mike as well.

CVB and Calaveras County Fair Board Member Steven Kautz probably had the best speech of the night as he gave Lisa high accolades for all of her considerable accomplishments. In an interesting side note if there has been a criticism of Lisa it has been her modesty on her successes. Many times since many of her efforts were marketing outside the county the local residents sometimes may not be aware of all that the CVB doest to help drive the local economy forward.

Current CVB Board President OAR's Steve Markle also had some very touching points in his speech when he mentioned how much he has learned from Lisa and even how the knowledge gained has helped his functions at OARS.

Calaveras County Supervisor Board Chair Gary Tofanelli and Vice Chair Merita Callaway read the proclamation that was passed at this mornings meeting honoring Lisa Mayo. Merita Callaway even had a night shirt made so Lisa could wear one her accolades to bed.

All in all it was a great night tourism in the county. There were Tourism awards winners that we will talk about in a separate piece. Photos and video going up soon.
