Man Posing as Law Enforcement Pulls Over Woman
Cold Springs, CA...On Thursday July 12th, a female was driving on Hwy 108 near Cold Springs in Tuolumne County. At approx. 7:00 am, a male subject in a vehicle resembling a law enforcement patrol car stopped her. The subject, who was wearing a tan shirt and pants and posing as a law enforcement officer, approached her and stated she was driving erratically. The subject was wearing a law enforcement type duty belt but did not appear to have a handgun. The subject detained the female for an extended period of time before allowing her to leave. ....
The California Highway Patrol and The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office were notified. Neither agency reported having any personnel or vehicles in the area at the time of the incident.
The subject is described as a white male adult, 45-55 years of age, 6’0” 200 pounds, short blond hair with a receding hair line, blue eyes, possibly wearing contact lenses.
The subject’s car is described as a black sedan with white doors, red emergency lights mounted under the headlights and a broken mirror on the driver’s side.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is asking for public assistance. Any one with any information regarding this incident, or anyone who may have had a similar experience is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 209-533-5815
