Leadership Tuolumne County Class of 2013, Application Deadline August 12th

Sonora, CA....Applications are now available for the Leadership Tuolumne County class of 2013, an exciting program of the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce. Leadership Tuolumne County is a community-wide effort to ensure a solid base of informed and effective leaders to meet and address the present and future challenges, which face our county. The curriculum consists of an opening retreat and eight full day sessions (one each month). Through presentations, roundtable discussions including prominent community, political, business, and cultural leaders, ....


.and hands-on experiences, participants are provided a background and insight into the most pressing issues facing Tuolumne County. This exciting program is now in its fifthteenth year and has graduated many community and organizational leaders totaling over 200 alumni. Graduates have this to say about the program: “I’m a fifth generation resident of Tuolumne County and I thought I knew the area until I took the Leadership Tuolumne County program,” Jan Opie, graduate class of 2000; “As a new leader coming from outside the county, LTC was a great “quick start….” John Keiter, Superintendent, Summerville Union High School; “I learned a great deal about a wide range of efforts going on in the community. Topic Days include Government, Law & Justice, Education, Business, Media & Marketing, Arts, Culture & Quality of Life, Environment & Land Use, and Health & Human Services.

Applications can be picked-up at the Chamber office, 222 S. Shepherd St., Sonora between the weekday hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Applications are also available on line at www.tcchamber.com. A selection committee carefully reviews each application and then makes recommendations to a Executive Board. Criteria for the selection include a desire to develop leadership skills, an involvement in the community and, a willingness to invest the time required for active participation. The one-day retreat, all class days and materials and graduation is included in the $750 tuition fee. Early registrations before June 30, 2012 are eligible for a discounted tuition fee of $700 if accepted into the program.

Deadline for applications is August 12, 2012.

The Youth Program follows a similar format to that of the adults, but is aimed more specifically toward young people. All high school age students are eligible, and there is no charge to go through the program, which is financed by business sponsors and LTC Alumni. Deadline for youth is August 12, 2012.
