Career & Technical Training Scholarships Awarded By Calaveras Foundation

Angels Camp, CA....Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) presented Career and Technical Training scholarships to eight high school students from both Bret Harte and Calaveras High Schools. Generous donations in 2012 from CCF’s business partners, Pacific Gas and Electric and Save Mart Supermarkets resulted in scholarships for these students who are choosing other than a four-year college path. This particular legacy fund, Career and Technical Training Scholarship Fund, established by Paul and Darlene DeBaldo, in 2010, recognizes and addresses a serious need in our communities....

Annually, very few scholarships are offered for students interested in pursuing career training, by seeking an associate degree and/or certificate of training in a specific industry. Educators share that more than 25% of graduation seniors in Calaveras County are candidates for such career training.

These winners, shown in the photo, will be pursuing fields of study in
fashion design, diesel and automotive mechanics, nursing, culinary and nutrition. Each scholarship winner received a $700 scholarship.

As a 501© 3 non-profit organization, CCF administers the funds that made these scholarships possible. We welcome donations from like-minded businesses and individuals who see the challenge ahead of making scholarship money available to seniors taking other career paths.
