Today is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day At The Fair
Copperoplis Calif. ….My story…My name is Shannon Tower and I am a 17 year old senior at Bret Harte high school. In January of 2011, my family was hit with the news that my older brother has brain cancer. Ever since then I have tried by best to find a way to help others that have been affected by this terrible disease. My Mission…
For my senior project I have worked with the fair board to make the Saturday of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee the official Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day. I would like to challenge all of you to wear pink that day to the fair or you can purchase Tough Enough to Wear Pink shirts and hats from me. All I ask is that you wear pink to the fair that day, whether you wear it for a family member, a friend, or even someone you may not know too well, I would really appreciate your support, because I will be wearing my shirt for my brother.
The Facts…
*One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and one woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes in the U.S.
*There are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors alive in the U.S. today.
*Breast cancer is the primary reason of death in women between the ages of 40-55.
Additional information…
All profits made will be donated back to The American Cancer Society for breast cancer research. Shirts and hats can be pre-ordered and they are for sale at the fair office.
