Frog Jump Hits Social Media Stride!
Frogtown, CA....The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is more than 80 years old and steeped in the traditions of the Gold Rush and the Ol’ West, but this year they are proving that you can teach an old cowboy new tricks or status updates. For the first time, the Calaveras County Fair will have a special booth, called a social media hub, where fairgoers can log onto their favorite social media site and update their pages on the spot...
“We have a growing following on Facebook and we wanted to engage the online community to make sure they were part of the Frog Jump,” said Bob Trinchero, Fair Board president.
The Frogtown Social Media Hub, inside Mark Twain Hall, will serve as a gathering place for tech-savy Fairgoers, Facebook members and Twitter Tweeters, Trinchero said. A computer will be available for visitors without smartphones who want to update their Facebook or Twitter pages to reflect their time at the Fair. Tim Hildabrand of Hstar, Inc. is sponsoring the booth and supplying the technology for fairgoers to use free of charge.
In addition, tech-savy fairgoers can take part in a 21st Century Treasure Hunt! Updates will be posted several times a day to the CCF&JFJ’s Facebook page, sending out a clue or challenge to fulfill. The first fairgoer to show up at the Frogtown Social Media Hub and prove they have done the challenge wins a prize.
When an update is posted, it is up to our Fans to fulfill the challenge and bring it to our colleagues at the Frogtown Social Media Hub. The first person to show up and prove they have done the challenge wins a prize.
The Fair will also keep you informed about all the cool stuff to see and do on the grounds throughout the four-day extravaganza.
