Five Will Vie For Saddle Queen Crown

Frogtown, USA...Five bright, talented young women will be competing for the title of 2012 Calaveras Saddle Queen and a $1,000 scholarship. The Calaveras Saddle Queen Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the arena competition at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The program offers more than $2,000 in scholarship awards for contestants....

The slate of 2012 contestants include Cassidy Davis, daughter of Ronnie and Shawna Davis of Angels Camp, Natalie Harp, daughter of Lisa Harp of Burson, Krista Maisch, daughter of Mike and Kelly Maisch of Copperopolis, Rachelle Snitchler, daughter of David and Ann Snitchler of Valley Springs, and Kimber Truelock , daughter of Jesse Truelock and Nicole Schwoerer of Angels Camp.

In April, the five contestants will begin a rigorous rehearsal schedule. They will be coached in public speaking, interview skills, horsemanship and poise. The competition is comprised of six areas of focus: Equestrian Written Test, Personal Interview, Equitation, Reining, Barrel Racing and Grand Entry Queen Salute. There is a three member judging panel. The judges are selected by the competition’s sponsor, the Calaveras Saddle Club. In addition to the top three scholarships, Turners Wild West sponsors participation gifts to all contestants and silver earrings to the winners of each of the six events, and Tammy Middleton of Cherry Tree Photography sponsors a photo shoot and the Miss Photogenic Award.

The young women, along with the Miss Calaveras contestants, will be participating in the Whiskerino Dinner Dance on April 28, tickets are on sale now. The contestants will be hosting and decorating two tables at the Whiskerino that will be auctioned off at the beginning of the event. The Whiskerino is an annual kick-off celebration hosted by the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair. The Calaveras Saddle Queen Scholarship Pageant will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17th in the Arena at the 2012 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee.
