Major Injuries in This Mornings Hwy 26 Accident

Valley Springs, CA...This morning at 7:40am a 52 year old San Andreas woman was driving her 2011 Ford Fiesta eastbound on hwy 26 west of Hogan Dam Road at approximately 40 mph. in light rain conditions. Due to her state of fatigue she allowed her car to cross over the double yellow line and directly into the path of a 2003 Freightliner...

The driver of the westbound truck made an evasive maneuver as swerved to the right in an effort to avoid a "head-on" collision. The front of the Fiesta collided with the drivers side of the truck in a "side-swipe" manner and both vehicles came to a rest partially blocking the lanes of travel.

The driver of the Fiesta was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital with major injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.
