Stolen Items Recovered and Arrest Made During Traffic Stop

Angels Camp, CA...On December 1st, 2011, at approximately 9:40 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle near the intersection of San Joaquin Avenue and Alpine Avenue...

Further investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was driving on a suspended driver license, and the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Additional prescription narcotics were also located in the vehicle, as well as property belonging to an uninvolved subject that lives in Modesto, CA.

The property belonging to the Modesto, CA resident included a driver license, two credit cards, and a check from a personal checking account. The Modesto resident was contacted via telephone, and she confirmed that her purse was stolen in Merced County on November 13th, 2011, and that she had filed a theft report with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Portia Anderson, a 27-year-old Manteca, CA resident, was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for charges related to the possession of narcotics.

Brett Blaisure, a 33-year-old Stockton, CA resident, was cited for charges related to driving on a suspended driver license. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Further investigation is ongoing related to the stolen items that were located in the vehicle, and additional charges related to these items may be forthcoming.
