Felony Ash Tray Tossing in Valley Springs Area
Wallace, CA...On 11/21/2011 at approximately 2020 hours Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Chevron gas station in Wallace to meet a victim/reporting party regarding vandalism to a vehicle. Upon meeting the victim the deputies learned that at approx. 2010 hours on the same date the victim, a licensed process server, went to 11700 Wade Lane #9, Wallace, to serve Dan Marcus Valdez (53) a notice to appear on a civil matter. The victim stated that after he served Mr. Valdez the civil process papers he went to his car and just before he drove away he heard the back window of his 2007 Toyota shatter...
The victim immediately left the area and drove to the Wallace Chevron Gas Station where he called the sheriff’s department. The victim told deputies that as he drove away he observed Mr. Valdez standing on the porch of the residence. The victim estimated the damage to his vehicle to be $3,000.
Deputies responded to 11700 Wade Lane #9 and contacted Mr. Valdez. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Valdez became upset over being served, picked up a glass ashtray and threw it at the victim’s vehicle window. Mr. Valdez was placed under arrest for felony vandalism. He refused to provide a statement to the deputies. Mr. Valdez was booked into the Calaveras County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.
