Letter to the Editor...."Supervisor Spellman- fighting for your rights"~by Darren Spellman
On September 13th a man from Rancho Calaveras came before the Board of Supervisors to ask for help because he was being required to buy FEMA flood insurance from the federal government for $3,500 per year and at that rate he may have to lose his home because of his already tight financial situation. Our current Congressman, Dan Lungren, has had meeting after meeting (at our request) and gave promise after promise with no real action and people are still paying outrageous amounts for flood insurance that they will never need. I gave the gentleman from Rancho Calaveras my card to contact me for help and admittedly remarked that part of the problem is that our elected Congressman is a moron....
Republicans continually bash the president and our governor, but have no further to look than our own local Republican representative Dan Lungren for a definitive example of an ineffective, disingenuous, elitist, arrogant politician who is without doubt a MORON.
Definition of MORON
The term moron, in the context I used it, is synonymous with “A very stupid person”. (See below for definition of stupid).

I was elected to stand up and fight for the people of my district 5 community and Calaveras County. Whether the offender is a common citizen or a U.S. Congressman makes no difference in my willingness to pursue a problem relentlessly until such time that it is resolved.
Those who ask for greater civility from me, I hold no malice towards and wish that I could grant their request, however I will not sacrifice the needs of the people of this county I have sworn to protect and defend so that I can be known as a “nice guy” or to be “friends” with the type of politicians that are ruining this great country, of which Dan Lungren is one of the worst offenders.
Dan Lungren appeared with Russ Thomas in the Copperopolis 150 parade last year and at several other events of a public nature in our county, yet never returned my calls even though I, Russ and Lungren are all registered Republicans. He wouldn’t talk with me because he already knew what I thought of him and what I expected him to do if I were elected. I expected ACTION to help my people.
