"Chains Required" Featured Band at July First Fridays in the Park!
"Chains Required", one of the most popular bands in the Mother Lode, will rock the Murphys Park’s landmark gazebo when the Murphys Community Club presents First Friday in the Park, July 1, starting at 5:30 p.m. The 10-piece rhythm & blues band, based in Sonora, was formed in 2007 by trombonist George Greenfield and friends. Its goal is to provide a soul-stirring musical experience.....
Chains Required is composed of top-tier local musicians who really enjoy entertaining with tunes spanning from the 60’s to the present. Central to the band is a four-piece horn section with journeyman players backed by an energetic rhythm section.
Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of good music and camaraderie in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park.
There is no admission charge.
The Murphys Community Club will be selling food, wine, and other beverages beginning at 5 p.m. with the proceeds going to maintain and improve the park. This month’s menu from Lila & Sage Catering includes grilled Italian sausage with sautéed sweet onions and a special sauce on a fresh baked roll, summer pasta salad, watermelon and Lila’s brownies. The price is $8 per person.
Coppermine wine, from Lavender Ridge Vineyard, along with soda and water, will be available to purchase.
The featured band at the August First Friday was scheduled to be James Faifua and the Jukes. Because of health issues, the group had to cancel its appearance. It has been replaced on the schedule by Dan Kryntzky’s Swing Gitane with its repertoire of danceable music from the heyday of the big bands.
The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 43nd year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.
This is the fifth year the club has presented First Fridays in the Park. These summer time events continue to grow in popularity and have fast become a Mother Lode tradition.
Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information, go to the web site www.visitmurphys.com/community_club.html or call 728-1948.
