Saturdays in May - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum across from the Murphys Hotel. May 27th-30th, 2011 - Memorial Day Weekend in Murphys - This is the weekend for getting family and friends together to camp, hike or enjoy a barbeque. Murphys is a great place to do it all with Big Trees State Park, Columbia State Park, Mercer and Moaning Caverns, Natural Bridges, lots of wine tasting, rivers, lakes and of course lots of shopping, dining and entertainment all within a short walk or drive.

Fridays & Saturday in May & April - Zucca After Hours Wine Bar - With the warm spring and summer evenings approaching we are happy to announce the Zucca After Hours Wine Bar. Friday and Saturday nights, our garden will be open from 5-8 pm for Wine Bar service “al’Italiano”. Pick your favorite seat and enjoy our wines by the glass and a small bread plate, or choose your own flight of wines. Live music on select nights.

May 27-29, 2011 - Annual Red Hot Yard Sale at the Murphys Fire Station - 8 am - 4 pm - Proceeds benefit the all volunteer Murphys Firefighters Association. Come join the fun, hunt for treasures and enjoy a world famous Firehouse Tri-Tip Sandwich. Donations may be delivered to the station Tuesday through Friday from 9 am - 3 pm and Wednesday, May 11, from 4-7 pm. Call 209-728-3864 for more information.

May 27 & 28, 2011 - Annual Rummage Sale at First Congregational Church of Murphys - Fri & Sat, 8 am – 4 pm. Donations of items to sell are still being accepted. 509 N. Algiers St. Corner of Church & Algiers, one block up from Murphys Hotel. For more information call 728.3141.

May 28, 2011 - Calaveras Big Trees Guided Hike - On Saturdays at 1:00pm, Calaveras Big Trees State Park offers a guided hike through the North Grove of the park. The hike is approximately 1.5 hours long and starts at the Visitor Center. The hike is free with your paid admission to the park and all (except dogs) are welcomed on the hike. May 29, 2011 - Rubber Chicken Roast - 7 p.m. at Twisted Oak Winery, located at 4280 Red Hill Ro ad. Enjoy a BBQ chicken dinner with all the fixings including wine for only $40 per person/$35 for CBTA members. Twisted Oak winery promises an evening of good food and great wine, music, raffle baskets, including Twisted Oak wines. We'll also be featuring a parking lot swap meet Saturday May 29 and Sunday May 30 during business hours.

May 30, 2011- Memorial Day Band Concert in Murphys Community Park - The Calaveras Community Band will present a special Memorial Day concert starting at 6:30 p.m. Under the direction of Mic Harper, the band will perform a mixture of patriotic, swing, and show tunes, as well as unforgettable oldies. Families and other members of the community are invited to pack a picnic dinner and enjoy this start of the season concert. The Murphys Community Club will have hot dogs, wine and other beverages for sale. There is no admission charge. Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys.
