Discover Calaveras Hopped into The Ranch House at Frogtown Last Night!

Frogtown, USA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau's Annual Discover Calaveras Series started off it's 2011 run last night at the Ranch House at Frogtown. The attendees were given a preview of this years "Pirates of the Carrots and Beans" themed Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee. Fair Marketing Director Lauri Gianini gave a great presentation hitting the high points of what should be a great fair. Frogtown is gorgeous this year and the grounds look better than ever. The fair made a renewed effort to engage the local community a couple of years ago and it has really paid off. One big dividend is the "Friends of the Fair" community group that has been a driving force in improvements like the Ranch House that provides a new meeting and entertainment venue and the new entry sign on Hwy 49 that improves the curb appeal of Frogtown.

Other community groups have pitched in to help as well to make sure the local crown jewel of the frog jumping world puts it's best foot forward the third week of each May.

One of the great things about small towns is how many residents put their lives on hold each year for community events such as the Fair and Frog Jump and do their part to make it a success and keep traditions alive.

In addition to the Ranch House attendees last night discovered the Saddle Queen contestants practicing hard in the arena and Frog Jump Committee Members Ron Dwelley, Buck King and the lovable Frog Mascot Carol Swartzlander gave the discoverees a tour of Frogington, the inner sanctum of the frog jumping world.

They also were able to get a little up close and personal time with the bevy of display jumping frogs that are already on hand and ready for the fair. Supervisor Merita Callaway even inspected a few to see if her prince might be awaiting her in Frogington.

So make plans to attend 2011 Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee that starts on May 19th. We will be providing daily coverage from the opening Saddle Queen competition to the finishing crash of the destruction derby.

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau will be holding many more Discover Calaveras Events this year to give locals and visitors the opportunity to Discover all the great treasures right her at home.
