Introducing The Miss Calaveras 2011 Contestants!

Frogtown, USA.....Eight bright talented young women will be competing for the title of 2011 Miss Calaveras and a $1,000 scholarship. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the stage competition at the Calaveras County Fair. The Program offers more than $2,700 in scholarship awards for contestants. Starting this month, the eight contestants will begin a rigorous rehearsal schedule. They will be schooled in interview skills, etiquette, public speaking and talent. The competition comprises of four areas of focus, personal interview, health and fitness, ....

evening gown and talent. There is a five member judging panel. The judges are selected by the competition’s sponsor, the Angels Murphys Rotary Club, and reside out of the area. In addition to the top three scholarships, Sonny and Sharon Canepa sponsor five special awards. Charleton Churchill Photography will be photographing the contestants in mid-April. These professional pageant portraits will be used to judge the Most Photogenic Award and will be given to the contestant sponsors for display in their businesses and homes.

The 2011 slate of contestants include Kirsten Puccinelli of Murphys, Sarah Corpening of Vallecito, Sarah Kraemer of Copperopolis, Rosemary Giannini of San Andreas, Emalie McGee of Mountain Ranch, Rachel Caynak of Valley Springs, Rachel Geiszler of Valley Springs, and Katie Tanner of Valley Springs.

The young women along with the Saddle Queen contestants will be participating in the Whiskerino Pre-Fair Dinner Dance on April 30. The contestants will be hosting and decorating two tables at the Whiskerino that will be auctioned off at the beginning of the event. Whiskerino is an annual celebration hosted by the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant will be at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19th on the main stage at the 2011 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Master of Ceremonies is Steve Hayward and the Pageant Director is Mrs. Lacey Neufeld.
