Suspect Arrested for 1999 Grayson Homicide
Modesto, CA....On March 8th, 2011, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department was contacted and advised Felipe Solorio had been located and arrested in Mexicali, Mexico early Tuesday morning. Mexico officials transported him to the USA/Mexico border, near Calexico CA, where Solorio was turned over to Law Enforcement officials. Investigators from the Stanislaus County District Attorneys Office drove to Calexico and took custody of Felipe Solorio. They transported him to the Stanislaus County Jail where he was booked for homicide.....
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department had obtained a warrant of arrest for Felipe Solorio for homicide, stemming from the 1999 homicide of Robert Ybarra. The homicide occurred in the early morning on March 7th, 1999. Robert Ybarra died at the scene from a fatal gun shot. During the investigation, Felipe Solorio was quickly identified as a suspect in the homicide and Sheriff Investigators learned Solorio may have fled to Mexico.
Working closely with Federal Agents, a federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution was obtained for Solorio. This is the first step to have a suspect arrested who has fled to another country. Federal officials worked closely with Mexico authorities and were able to locate and apprehend Felipe Solorio early Tuesday morning.
Felipe Solorio’s was arrested twelve (12) years and one day after the homicide occurred.
