Spinning at Starbucks~by Patrick Works
Angels Camp, CA....Media reports in recent weeks have made everyone aware of the new larger sized drinks now available from Starbucks. Those who want a little extra "spin" from their usual caffeine dose can now spin just a little more. It seems some have put their own spin on, or in, Starbucks this week. Pam Brady and her friend and mentor Christine Hall sat down in the ever popular corner table, and set up their wheels to do a little spinning of their own; spinning of yarn that is.....

Part of the Motherlode Weavers and Spinners, Pam and Christine made wools from Pam's Alpacas into beautiful and incredibly soft yarns for later use in weaving and knitting of all kinds. An age-old craft performed today at Starbucks on modern equipment, the process of spinning is something everyone is vaguely aware of, though few get a chance to see up close.
Ms. Hall, president of the Motherlode Weavers and Spinners, was wearing a beautiful sweater of her own design, and knitted from hand spun and hand dyed wool she made herself with her wheel. Full of beautiful warm tones, it was a beautiful garment. Between the spinning, dying, and knitting, Ms. Hall told us it took approximately a year to finish. Though clearly not a schedule that would allow her to accept orders for sale, she was very happy with the result of her labors.
A wonderful and beautiful artistic diversion for the usual coffee culture, Pam and Christine drew a crowd of curious onlookers eager to find out more about what they were doing.
