Presidents’ Wine Weekend Set for February 19th~20th......Fine Food, Wine, Music and More!
Calaveras County, CA....The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance presents the 15th annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend Feb. 19 and 20, 2011 at all 25 CWA wineries from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend festivities include All-American fare, new releases, barrel tastings, Presidential visits by Abe and George, food and wine pairings, and live music, as well as a number of special discounts on wines and gifts. “The Presidents’ Wine Weekend is a great opportunity to sample signature family dishes with fine wines, celebrate with friends old and new, and take advantage of special discounts,” said Carrie Nelson, CWA .....

Administrator. “With the purchase of a $10 commemorative wine glass, all offerings are open to the glass holder for the entire weekend.” Wine glasses will be available at Brice Station Wines, Chatom Vineyards, Frog’s Tooth Vineyards, Hatcher Winery, Renner Winery, Tanner Vineyards and Val du Vino Winery. No reservations are required.
A sampling of offerings include Millaire Winery’s meatballs and tapenades paired with classic varietals, case sale packages starting at $99 and bottle sales as low as $7. Chatom Vineyards will be serving “All-American” fare including hot dogs, PB&Js, popcorn and apple crisp. Long-time favorite musician Richard Bolmen will perform modern and classic songs, as well. Hatcher will be dishing out their barbecue pulled pork sandwiches and Sewell’s potato salad. “Red, white and blue” appetizers will be offered at Black Sheep and tasting of two newly released wines – the 2009 Cinsault and 2008 Zinfandel, as well as special discounts on wine purchases.
Adding to the festivities, Val du Vino Winery goes Cajun with shrimp and corn cakes served with 2009 award-winning Viognier, smoked turkey gumbo with 2008 Petite Sirah, and a traditional bread pudding with 2008 Late Harvest Syrah, alongside a “buy three bottles and the fourth is free” special. Frog’s Tooth Vineyard will be rockin’ with tunes by local favorite band, Plan B, in addition to serving mini corn dogs, Boston baked beans and chocolate treats. Stevenot will serve lemon pepper chicken wings, grilled sausages with Zinfandel mustard, gourmet cheeses and fruit board, Rustica breads and chocolate sweets. The Tanner boys will be at the chef’s helm with a Pasta Italiano, delicious mountain oysters and a surprise taste from the barbecue at Tanner Vineyards along with half case and Cabernet wine specials. Broll Mountain Vineyards is offering a 10% discount during the weekend on wine and olive oil.
