VERY IMPORTANT....Income Survey Needed to Bring Funding to the Douglas Flat & Vallecito Community
San Andreas, CA....Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) is conducting an income survey in the Douglas Flat - Vallecito community to pursue a state grant for upgrades to the existing wastewater treatment facility. Residents are being asked to fill out a brief form to establish the median household income (MHI) in the area by January 31, 2011. Accuracy of the information is critical in determining CCWD’s eligibility for state grant funds. .....
The survey can be filled out either on line or by mailing the form in the self-addressed stamped envelope. All information included in the survey is confidential, and no identifying information will be kept. CCWD has acquired the services of Adams Ashby Group to administer the survey.
The most recent data from the 2000 Census is outdated, and a more recent, accurate MHI is needed for CCWD’s application. Currently, CCWD is pursuing a state grant that would pay for the much needed upgrades and improvements to the Douglas Flat - Vallecito wastewater treatment plant. The proposed project would expand the plant’s ability to serve the community and improve the treatment capability to produce tertiary water, a higher quality of treated water that can be reused for non-potable application.
State agencies that provide funding to local agencies, in most cases, review the MHI of the community applying to determine if the funds will be awarded as a loan or a grant. Although state loans offer low interest rates, grants are preferred since there is no cost for the agency. The MHI information is used by the state to assess the level of funding assistance.
CCWD appreciates our community’s help in improving our services.
