Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital Announces Design-Build Team for New Family Medical Center & Women's Health Resource Center
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced the team of professionals who will design and construct the new Family Medical Center on the site recently purchased by the Mark Twain Health Care District. The team was selected from proposals submitted through a request for proposal (RFP) process and consists of Tassajara Development Corporation (Angels Camp) who is the project executive. The project architect is Aspen Street Architects (Angels Camp) who has several previous successful projects at the hospital. Rudy Ortega & Associates (Copperopolis) will provide the design ....
.architecture. Finally, Davis Reed Construction (Sacramento), who has construction experience across all types of healthcare facilities, has joined the team. The project manager representing Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and Catholic Healthcare West is Earl Consulting (Sacramento). “The design-build team has a proven track record of success with similar facilities” said hospital president Feliciano Jiron. “They have brought together an experienced, knowledgeable team of local designers and builders with an impressive healthcare resume.”
The first building is estimated at 9,500 sq. ft. (the parcel can support over 40,000 sq. ft. of structures) and will replace the current Family Medical Center in Angels Town Square and Creekside Imaging Center. Programs will include General Family Practice; Immediate Care; General X-ray; Women’s Health with an emphasis on Gynecology, Menopause, and Prenatal/Postnatal Care; Health Education; Pediatrics; Workers’ Comp and referrals for Specialty Care.
It is anticipated the team will have the initial conceptual design and probable cost estimates available after the Christmas Holiday. Geotechnical exploratory borings have been completed by Condor Earth Technologies (Jamestown). It is estimated the design documents will be submitted to the City of Angels for review in March 2011. Construction is estimated to commence late 2011 with occupancy in 2012.
The Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation is awaiting the approval of the hospital’s business plan for the project. The Hospital Foundation has joined the hospital and the Health Care District for funding the project. “The Foundation is pleased to be a part of the Family Medical Center project, which when completed, will enhance the hospital’s services and add value to our community” said Foundation President Bob Hussmann."
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 36 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
