The ASCC has invited candidates seeking election to the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees from areas 1 and 2. Area 2 candidates listed in alphabetical order are Sandy Mesenhimer, Don Viss, and John Youngs.
......
The forum, in addition to an ongoing voter registration drive, is part of the “Call to Action” voter awareness project coordinated by the ASCC. The format of the forum is designed to help voters make an informed decision on Election Day with audience members hearing a 2-minute personal statement from each candidate as well answers to pre-selected and audience questions.
The Yosemite Community College District includes two comprehensive two-year colleges, Columbia College and Modesto Junior College as well as a Central Services Unit. The District covers a 4,500 square mile area, serves a population of over 550,000, and encompasses all of two counties (Stanislaus and Tuolumne) and parts of four others (Calaveras, Merced, San Joaquin, and Santa Clara). The YCCD Board of Trustees consists of seven (7) elected members and, once elected, shall serve a four (4) year term in office.
