Christian Children’s Author Gloria Jean Bodenmuller Reads to Copper Kids Club ~ By, Charity Maness

Gloria Jean Bodenmuller, a resident of Circle XX, has written six Christian children’s books all conveying the simple message through multiple subjects that God loves them. The titles include, ‘Heaven’, ‘Angels All Around Me’, ‘The Christmas Star’, ‘What is Christmas’, ‘My Very Own Book about Gardening’, and ‘Harvesting.’ Each book includes a cd with Gloria as the narrator, making it easier for the children to read along. The cd also includes a sing along. Gloria visited the Copper Canyon Baptist Church Kids’ Club this Wednesday at Black Creek Park in Copperopolis and read to the children from her latest book.....

The book Gloria chose to read to the children was her recently published work titled “Angels All Around Me.” It tells of how angels are placed around children helping them to feel peace and calmness when facing fears that may surround them and that they don’t understand. She tells the children a story of her grand-daughter’s fear of the dark when she was young and how this fear motivated Gloria with the guidance of God to write a book for all children so they too can understand that angels are watching over them, protecting them. She asked the group of children how many believed in angels and hands shot up. She asked if the children thought the angels watched over them and one child responded, “24/7!”

Accompanying Gloria on her visits to youth groups to share her stories and her faith is her friend Lois Conklin on the Autoharp. Lois lead the children in song letting them use various instruments: plastic eggs filled with beans, sticks, tambourines, bells, triangles, etc. The children were enthusiastic, playing to the rhythm of their own drummer. Lois also entertained them with an Appalachian instrument called a ‘limber Jack’ a wooden man with bisected legs which when ‘danced’ on a board makes the sound of clapping horse hooves.

Pastor Sean of Copper Canyon Baptist Church works diligently with many volunteers to “share the Gospel of Jesus Christ” with children. The children within the program received Gloria with open arms and excitement, evidence of a program run with caring and love.
