2nd Annual RUN 4 MUSIC on October 30th!
Avery, CA...One of the prettiest, yet one of the most challenging race events on the Ebbetts Pass corridor this year will be at Avery Middle School in Avery. The event is the 2nd annual RUN 4 MUSIC and it will be held on Saturday October 30th. Registration is now open at the sponsor's website: www.vallecitomusicboosters.wordpress.com. Fees range from $5 to $20 per entry, depending on race course and runner's age...
Just like last year, Vallecito Music Boosters and the Vallecito Union School District are teamed up to bolster funds for the district's 5th-8th grade music program at schools on the Ebbetts Pass Corridor. Races include a Kid's Mile on the Avery Middle School track at 9am, followed by a challenging dirt road course for 5K and 10K intrepid racers and walkers. Costumes are encouraged! Medals and awards will be presented to racers and for best costumes.
Parents and community members who wish to support the music program but are not inclined to run can volunteer to help on race day. Sign ups to volunteer are on the sponsor's website.
Perhaps best of all, runners and volunteers will be treated to the popular sounds of Avery Middle School's jazz and advanced bands, caramel apples, and one of our corridor's beloved autumn days. Many thanks go to music director Patty Jo Struve for spearheading this event. Patty Jo is currently en route to Australia where she will compete in an international bike race.
