Jr. Bullfrogs Take on a New Season~by Dylan Richardson
It’s no secret that Mike Ziehlke has been a big part of Pop Warner football in our area for a long time. He was a player on the first Pop Warner team in Angels Camp then named the Sierra Packers. Mr. Ziehlke took a 10 year break in coaching but like most people that get involved with coaching at any level he felt the need to come back and so he did 2 years ago.....
Now Coach Ziehlke is the Director in charge of Football and also the treasurer for the AMA board. This season looks to be a good one. “As you can see our varsity is real small this year. Although we’re not good in numbers we have a lot of talent”, says Ziehlke. I asked “Besides the Jr. Bullfrogs what teams are the ones to watch on the Varsity level. “Calaveras, Jr Redskins, have lost most of their starters from last season but Argonaut is going to be a tough team” Said Ziehlke.
I then asked if new players could still sign up and Ziehlke said, “We can always use more players”. Players or parents can contact him via the AMA website www.amayouthsports.com or by phone 736- 0309. Participation is the key to any successful program and there are many ways to help out the Jr. Bullfrogs one way is to sponsor them with a half or full page ad in their program you can also sponsor a player.
