Busy Planning Commission Meeting in Angels Camp Last Night! Big Box, Sidewinders, The Bunkhouse at Greenhorn, MTSJ Medical Center, Prompt Care and More

Angels Camp, CA....It was a busy Angels Camp Planning Commission meeting last night at the Angels Firehouse. Some of the highlights are that the "Big Box" or large format retailer guidelines were approved by the commission and will move on to the City Council, Sidewinders the proposed Mexican restaurant in the Old Vines location was approved with a couple tweaks that still need to be done. We had the opportunity to tour the restaurant a couple of weeks ago with owner Dave Swarbrick and without giving anything away they have made some very nice improvements to the location that in our opinion will make some of the seating areas truly....

one of a kind for our area.

The proposed Sonora Regional Medical Center's Prompt Care facility still needs to convince the City and Emergency Personnel that perceived access issues won't pose a problems for patients needing an ambulance or fire personnel. They are planning on occupying the bottom floor of the Prudential Building at the corner of Hwys 4 & 49.

Their Calaveras County based competition Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital's agenda item had clearer sailing with the sign approval for their new proposed Stanislaus Street location.

A large portion of the meeting was spent on the proposed "Bunkhouse at Greenhorn Creek" This is a project that even those in the audience who have issues with some of the details as they currently exist are in favor of. This Bunkhouse will provide additional overnight lodging in the area for groups of golfers.

The are a few glitches that nearby property owners would like to see clarified and cleaned up before this move firmly into the approval column. The areas that seemed to have the most concerns were limiting access from the South and forcing the bulk of the traffic to enter off of McCaully, Making sure that the buildings fit in with the rest of the neighborhoods and Greenhorn Creek as a whole.

Of specific concern are the modulars that are currently in place but will be moved further south and according to some residents propose a aesthetic challenge. Greenhorn Creek General Manager Mike Kristoff assured those concerned that the finished facility will make a nice improvement to the area.

So after they do a bit of tweaking on the plans you can expect this project back before the commission and get complete approval. Mike Kristoff started things off with a nice presentation on the merits of the project.
