Valley Springs Farmers Market has much more to offer than just produce~by Charity Maness

Valley Springs, CA...If you want to find the best locally grown produce around, this local farmer’s market is the one to hit. Open 8:30 am to 1pm every Saturday ‘til the rainy season comes (September 25th) this market is located in the Terrace Plaza parking lot. From zucchini to eggplant, from pluots to blueberries, it’s all here, and it’s all good. For those looking for more of an art fair outdoor market, well, this is it. The local quilting guild, Loose Threads Quilt Guild, was there raffling off a beautiful block snowman scene quilt. The proceeds of the raffle go to many different local charities and .....

causes. These ladies make and donate quilts to Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and local fire victims. They also donate to the local food bank and relay for life.

Just around the corner from the quilters you have the opportunity to adopt one of the many adorable little kittens that the Calaveras Humane Society has in their care. Next to them and artist, a jewelry maker, a photographer, a nursery and much more.

And of course you will find organic. A local honey company “Beeloved” offers many varieties of local honey, from blackberry to wildflower. It has been said that eating the local honey can help with allergies. I’m not sure about that, but the honey is delicious. Samples are freely given. Then there is “Always Enough Ranch” a local organic farm owned by Bob and Gayla Roberts, offering goats milk soaps and goat meat (must order) natural soaps, salves, and balms made of only natural ingredients. Though Gayla herself will tell you her greatest achievement in the homemade salve arena is that of her specially created “Shea Ice Plus.” Claiming it has healed her husband’s psoriasis and can cure nail fungus.

This farmer’s market is open every Saturday from 8:30 to 1:00 pm. Call Sarah 209-635-3158 for more information.
