Discarded Cigarettes Cause of Oak Tree Fire

Copperopolis, CA....CAL Fire states cigarettes caused an oak tree fire on June 23rd. The fire occurred at 300 Block o Winchester Way in Copperopolis. There was an old oak snag next to the house that the the homeowner discards cigarettes in and around. The tree had enough dead material on the inside to ignite the tree on fire. The fire did not extend beyond the tree. CAL FIRE UNITS RESPONDING: COPPEROPOLIS: ENGINE 4462; LOCAL UNITS RESPONDING: COPPEROPOLIS FIRE: ENGINE 231, MEDIC ENGINE 238. CAL Fire report enclosed...

OLD OAK SNAG NEXT TO A HOUSE THAT THE HOMEOWNER DISCARDS CIGARETTES IN AND AROUND. THE TREE HAD ENOUGH DEAD MATERIAL ON THE INSIDE TO IGNITE THE TREE ON FIRE. THE FIRE DID NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE TREE.
