Donna Lynn (Stokes) Lehrer April 9, 1963 to May 28, 2010
A Celebration of Life service was held on June 2 for Donna Lynn (Stokes) Lehrer, 47, who passed away peacefully with family at her bedside in Angels Camp, California. Graveside services will be private and held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in Sonora, California. She lived in Folsom but was born in Sonora, California and raised in Angels Camp, California.
During her fulfilled years of life, she was an outstanding mother, supportive spouse, loving daughter and sister and adored friend. Through her years of parenting, sisterhood and friendship, she was admired to those who knew and loved her....
While in high school, one of her most memorable achievements was when the 1980-1981Bret Harte Varsity Girls Basketball Team won its first MLL and Section a Championship under the leadership of Coach Jan Edwards. Donna was Team Captain and recognized as “Outstanding Senior Player.” This would be the first in a series of successful Bret Harte Girls Basketball Program accomplishments over the past 30 years.
In June, 2007, she began her fight against colon cancer with courage, dignity and grace. Although the battle was lost her memory will thrive in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be missed by her children Kyle, age, 12; Erin, age, 9; her spouse William Robert Lehrer III, her mother Linda (Jim) Kelley of Sutter Creek; father Ed (Gwen) Stokes of Angels Camp; Sister Debbie (Dave) Ponte of Angels Camp; brother Rob (Michelle) Stokes of Vale, Oregon. Nieces Michelle and Nicole Ponte of Angels Camp; Rylie and Teagan Stokes of Vale, Oregon, and her husband’s adult children William and Kurt Lehrer.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Kathryn and Leonard Beckham, of Sonora; John and Elizabeth Stokes of Sonora; baby niece Kathryn Ponte of Angels Camp; Uncle Rodger of Sonora and Aunt Audys of West Hills.
Remembrances may be made in Donna’s memory to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras, 1500 S. Highway 49, Suite 205, Jackson, CA 95642.
