Artwork of Kayle Fitzsimmons graces Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Art Auction Poster~By Tammy Beilstein

The artwork of Kayla Fitzsimmons has been chosen to be the featured design on the 13th annual Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Art Auction poster. This past April, students in Suzanne Smith's Calaveras High School art class participated in a contest sponsored by Hospice of Amador & Calaveras to find a new design for their 2010 Art Auction poster. The students were asked to work with any medium they preferred and to use the themes of life and death and what hospice means to them. Fitzsimmons interpretation of the theme is a beautiful, brightly colored butterfly.....

“We were so impressed by the student’s artistic abilities and that made choosing just one piece almost impossible,” said Ann Metherd, Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice of Amador & Calaveras. “We were very pleased with the student’s enthusiasm and willingness to tackle such a difficult subject matter, and we look forward to showcasing these stunning pieces of art at the Art Auction.”

According to Metherd, the second and third place submissions belonged to CHS students Marissa Couch and Dana Pierce.

The Hospice of Amador & Calaveras 13th Annual Art Auction will take place on Friday, June 18th, from 6pm-10pm at the St. George Hotel in Volcano. Proceeds will help support the work of hospice so no individual will go without the care they need.

In addition to the live and silent auctions filled with phenomenal art work there will be special raffles held throughout the evening. All raffle items are donated by local merchants and include fantastic prizes.

Tickets are $40 advance / $50 at the door. All proceeds benefit Hospice of Amador & Calaveras. VISA & Master Cards are accepted forms of payment. We urge everyone wanting to attend to purchase their tickets early.
