Frogtown, CA....Calaveras County Farm Bureau played Co-Host to Ag-Day 2010. The Calaveras County Farm Bureau along with the Calaveras County Fair Grounds held their Annual Ag-Day 2010 at Frogtown. This event is offered to the 4th and 5th grade students from the county. Lorey C. Oliver Manager of Calaveras County Farm Bureau stated "We organize and provided an educational opportunity to come; listen and be involved in hands on presentations from individuals working in the agricultural industries. start their thinking processes of how intricate and necessary agriculture is to every individual. It is the opportunity to provide a foundation of the importance of agriculture preservation in the young minds of what will one day be the future.

They usually host between 700 and 900 students to the event. The individuals making the presentations actually take a day off from their jobs to come and volunteer there time and speak about there fields of knowledge. Calaveras County Farm Bureau pays for all the bussing costs related to the event. Schools cut this educational opportunity from their budgets years ago and the Directors of the FB felt it so important to continue in the education of these students that they choose to endure the costs rather than eliminate the education of young minds. Since these events we have gained support from such organizations as the Calaveras Cattlewomens, Calaveras Grown and the Calaveras Wine Grape Alliance. While the cost of this event continues to rise in the most challenging of economic times FB is proud to continue its efforts. We will continue to seek support to continue an important educational opportunity for the children. Only through the efforts of our presenters & our supporters would this event be possible."
