Tuolumne County's Larry Cope On Regional Economic Development
Arnold, CA...Last week Larry Cope the Director of Economic Development of the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority addressed a good sized group of local business people on regional economic development. The meeting was held at Dist. 3 Supervisor Candidate Bill McManus's campaign office. Larry made sure he told the group that his position is not a political one. His speech had some really useful tips for our area....
One thing we all need to realize is that economic development is a regional process where all of us can help push our region forward. Additionallly that job retention is just if not more important than recruitment. You don't want your are to be a "leaky bucket" especially where jobs are concerned
We also need to hold our County Government accountable on their timely and efficient progress on the building permits and plans that have been submitted.
It was nice to get perspective from outside our county on things we could be doing better.
His full speech is enclosed...
