Mark Twain Drama Club Pulls Off a Hilarious Theater Production!~by Chartity Maness

Angels Camp, CA....The 7th and 8th graders of Mark Twain School gave it their all with an utterly riotous performance of “Hurricane Smith and the Garden of the Golden Monkey.” The show began with a beautiful vocal performance of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” sung by Karly Kuntz, accompanied by her own backup singers Lindsey Michaels and Tamara Pheiffer. The awestruck audience was enraptured by her vocal skills. This young lady can sing!...

The curtain then opened to a ‘B’ type movie filming in progress, a definitely low budget production directed by none other than the famed cut and wrap gory movie director Eddie Diamond (Levi Rollings). As the actors wrapped it up wanna-be screen writer Gloria Daly (Aurora Fideldy) snuck onto the set and attempted to coerce Eddie with her new fabulous script. Much to Eddie’s disappointment his transportation home had been delayed an hour so he found himself stuck at the studio with Gloria glued to his side begging for an opportunity. Feeling generous, and trapped, Eddie offered Gloria a once in a lifetime opportunity…to show the one and only Eddie Diamond her creation. He had one catch he wanted to see it acted out in less than an hour. What followed was non-stop laughs.

The curtain reopens and Gloria’s play launches into lost worlds, adventurers, diamond mines, jungle people, plane crashes, gorilla nannies, educational institutions, and of course a hero, Hurricane Smith (Austin Evans) and an investigative reporter Linda Zest (Lindsey Michaels) in need of constant rescuing.

All in all, a really fun play for the whole family.

One more show Friday March 26th, 6:30 pm at the Bret Harte Theater. Donations accepted.
