New! Vote For Your Favorite Follies Act
The brave volunteer cast of the 2010 Calaveras Follies invites friends, family, co-workers and the public to support their hard work and the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program by voting for a favorite act in advance of the show at www.calaverasfollies.com. Each vote costs $5.00, and supporters are encouraged to vote as many times as they wish. This year’s Follies boasts a record-breaking total of 22 different acts, to be performed at the Mark Twain Hall in Frogtown on Saturday, April 17, 2010. ...
Vote payment can be made a number of ways – through PayPal or credit card on the Web site, or by sending a check for $5.00 per vote to Calaveras Follies, c/o CYMP, P.O. Box 760, Angels Camp, CA 95221 (please include the act number for each vote). A special award will be presented after the show to the act that generates the most votes.
“We’ve added a new way for everyone to participate in the Follies, show support for the cast members and make a donation to the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program all at the same time,” said Kathryn Eustis, Director of Youth Development and Prevention Programs for the Calaveras County Office of Education and overseer of the mentoring program.
In addition to the now-famous buffet appetizers and the luxurious Follies raffle, this year’s show features a new twist on the familiar Follies concept – “The Commencement Performance,” in which local celebrity “students” lip-synch songs about their future. “This is going to be the best show we’ve ever done,” said Terri Wilson, artistic director. “We’ve got a huge cast, more acts than ever before, and this year’s show has a wonderful message – poignant and funny.”
Reservations are available by calling the Follies message phone (209) 536-6302. Admission to the Follies is still $50 per person (credit cards accepted). There is reserved seating so the sooner reservations are made, the better the seats.
Calaveras Follies is presented by Calaveras Youth Mentoring volunteers, Frogtown and Murphys Creek Theatre.
