Sunday Accident Causes Major Injuries to Pittsburg Couple
Arnold, CA...A 31 year old Pittsburg resident was driving his Audi westbound on Hwy 4 at an extremely high rate of speed as he approached the town of Arnold. After overtaking slower moving westbound traffic he attempted to pass those vehicles to the left. In doing so, he lost control of his steering and his Audi slid in a north-westerly direction across the north shoulder of the highway...
where it subsequently struck two large pine trees. Responding Ebbetts Pass Fire personel were forced to cut the Audi's Roof away to gain access to Mr. Melvin and his wife. Both were flown to Modesto are hospitals with fractured pelvises and the Audi received total rollover damage.
