Lisa Mayo, Executive Director of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau and Film Commission, was just awarded a scholarship from the Western Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau’s to attend the WACVB Tourism Tech Summit to be held in Seattle later this month. The Tourism Tech Summit offers travel industry attendees a number of sessions relating to the latest technologies used to effectively market travel, determine ROI and carry out the business of travel. Covered topics include: Unraveling the Mystery of Google Analytics, Best Practices in Social Media Analytics and Research, Social Media Trends: What’s Next and Finding Your Footing in the World of Facebook. The speaker and panel line-ups include representatives from Microsoft, Bing, Google, Expedia and the Go See Tell Network. ....

“I’m honored and excited that I was awarded this scholarship. Technology plays a huge role in the travel industry. It’s challenging because it moves so fast. It’s extremely important for us to stay on top of technology trends so we can remain competitive and meet the ever-changing needs of the audience we’re marketing to,” states Mayo.

The scholarship covers the conference registration fee, transportation costs (including airfare) and lodging expenses, totaling nearly $1,000.
