Valley Springs Area Business Association Re-Energizing Business Community ~By Tammy Beilstein
Valley Springs, CA....Greg Cadger, E.A., owner of Cadger Consulting and Tax in Valley Springs, has taken his position as the new Chair of VSABA. He is using his expertise and small business experiences, as well as those of his Board, to help strengthen and invigorate the local business community. “The businesses of Calaveras County are the lifeblood of the community,” said Cadger. “Being such, I feel as the preeminent business organization in Calaveras County, it is our responsibility and our mission to ensure that our local businesses thrive and continue to prosper - Thus our slogan ‘Shop ABA, Build Your Community!’”.....

To ensure this happens, VSABA plans on focusing their energy in three areas.
The first goal is to educate the citizens of Calaveras County on how important it is to spend their money in their own community. Cadger explained, “If you spend your money in Amador it means more jobs, better schools and better roads for Amador. If you spend your money here, your community gets more jobs, better schools, roads, more police and more emergency responders.”
The second area is to help educate and assist local businesses to be more competitive and offer the quality of goods and services to warrant the consumer spending.
The third area is to hold VSABA membership to a higher standard. “This is to ensure that if a consumer comes to an ABA member that the member provides them with outstanding service while maintaining a level of ethics that our community can take pride in.”
Cadger would also like to make certain that affiliates get the guidance, resources and referrals they desire from VSABA membership. “I’d like to see every luncheon and mixer as an opportunity for our members to learn more about their business, their neighbor’s business, their employees, and their community,” said Cagder.
As a result of this objective, the VSABA invited Trudy Lackey, a Business Consultant with the Small Business Development Center of San Joaquin College, to speak at their February luncheon.
Lackey gave the crowd of business owners and managers numerous tips and strategies for marketing their businesses during a difficult economy. Many of the ideas cost very little money but are sure to yield positive results. VSABA members were encouraged to ask Lackey questions and share examples of what has and has not worked for them in their own business experiences. Afterward, Cadger said this luncheon was so successful and informative that he’d very much like to invite Lackey to guest-speak again at a later date.
