Ray Kempton...July 4th, 1967~January 7th, 2010

Calaveras County, CA...Raymond Gene Kempton of Murphys, CA, born in Jackson, CA., passed away unexpectedly in Sonora Community Regional Hospital at the age of 42. He was a graduate of Placer Higher School in Auburn, CA., where he lived for 20 years and had many immediate family and friends. He moved to Murphys in 1987 to be close to his Father, brother and sister. Ray worked for Kautz Ironstone Winery for 6 years before retiring on medical disability. He enjoyed playing cribbage, shooting pool, spending time in the Murphys Park with his friends and helping others. Ray was very well known in the area and will be sorely missed by many people!.....

He was preceded in death by brothers, Tim Kempton and Norman Kempton of Auburn; Grandparents, Dick and Helen Highfill of New Castle, Fred Kempton of Los Angeles, and Olga Battee of Fordland, MO.

He is survived by his mother, June Stone and her husband Bud Stone of Alta; Father, Clark (Corkey) Kempton of Angels Camp; Brother, Thomas Kempton; Sister, C C Costa of Murphys and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Murphys Park on Saturday, January 16th, from 10:00am till? Food and music will be provided. As an alternative to flowers or donations, the family asks if you would perform a random act of kindness for a COMPLETE STRANGER, as Ray did so often in his daily life.
