Strategic Planning For Calaveras County...Supervisors Meeting Continued... (Complete Meeting Video Enclosed

San Andreas, CA...In the afternoon session outgoing Probation Director Michael Kriletich laid out some of the plans that the Department heads worked out in their retreat. Some of the first ones are a Parks & Rec Special District and putting the county on record for supporting an increase of the TOT or Transient Occupancy Tax from 6% to 10% and also exploring a formal contract with the CVB. Discussion has centered on pros and cons for increasing the TOT...

Supervisor Tryon came out strongly in opposition of the increase. While Supervisor Thomas lead the charge in stating that having our TOT artificially low is a detriment.

Now they are moving on to Infrastructure and how to adequately fund and maintain integrated waste management, the new jail, etc.

The discussion has now moved on to things such as technological infrastructure including how to increase broadband penetration and prepare for the future of the needs of the county.

We will have full video of the meeting for your perusal later...

The complete almost 5 hours of Calaveras County Public Access TV Video is now below for your viewing pleasure...
