Calaveras County, Builder Friendly Once Again? Builders Association Luncheon Featured Four Department Heads

San Andreas, CA...The prevailing message emanating from the Black Bart Inn on Friday was that it is safe once again to bring those projects into the County Offices and let them help you down the development path. What you will get is a frank and honest evaluation of your project's, application and the path you will need to follow to see it through to conclusion. This hasn't always been the case. In past years some projects entered into the planning Department never to see the light of day again. On hand to give the building community an update were: The Building Department's Jeff White, George White from Planning, Public Works' Tom Garcia and Brian Moss from Environmental Health...

Each Department Head gave a brief presentation on the state of their departments and the challenges they face. There is a renewed on communication and frank discussion among the departments.

They acknowledged and discussed some very real challenges ahead and some of the issues from the past while not eliminated entirely now at least have solutions. Issues such as driveway slopes, septic setbacks and more now at least have lists of potential solutions and work arounds that were stopping projects in their tracks a couple of years ago.

The Calaveras County Builders Association and the County now are on the same side now and working for common goals.

New issues were discussed like California's recent relaxation of rules for Greywater use and design changes that will be allowed for reducing the volume of water entering septic tanks and additional greening up of home designs. Things that were off limits before will be given a second look and maybe allowed under experimental rules.

We have the meeting video below....
