Trinitas enters Chapter 11 Protection ~By John Hamilton

Valley Springs, CA...The Trinitas Golf Course entered into Chapter 11 Bankrupcy protection yesterday afternoon according to Trinitas Owner Mike Nemee. The bank has been notified so the proposed sale scheduled for tomorrow is off. Now the battle for the Trinitas project moves squarely to the courts. The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors denied their appeal on Tuesday on a 3-2 vote that set in motion the preparations for the filing.

This project has been at the center of the longest running and most costly development battle in Calaveras County history. The applicants and staff have spent almost countless hours on this project and there are now over 1,100 pages of documentation on this project alone in the County Record. Some members of County Council staff by their own admission have been spending 50% of their time on the legal side of this project.

It now appears that this may be just the beginning of the battle. Operations will continue at the Golf Course and the legal positioning by the opposing sides should continue on unabated as well. The only winners so far have been the attorneys...
