Calaveras Jr. Redskins vs. Linden Lions~ By Tammy Beilstein

The Calaveras Jr. Redskins had a bye last week, and this week they returned to play the Linden Lions at Linden High School. VARSITY: The Jr. Redskins Varsity team pounded the Linden Lions and delivered another shutout game this week with a final score of 46-0. So far this season the Jr. Redskins have scored 166 points and only given up16. Jr. Reds Varsity Coach, Perri Turner said, “We went into this game against the Lions like we do all the other games. We know not to under estimate this team, and as we expected, they played hard and never gave up.”.....

Outstanding offensive players this week include Malachi Stockdale who played particularly well achieving a total of 4 touchdowns against the Lions. Three of Stockdale’s TD’s were achieved by racking up 9 carries for 132 yards in addition to a 62 yard punt return. Michael Seawell had a remarkable game with 6 carries for 44 yards and 2 touchdowns. Danny Gilmore assisted his team with 4 carries for 25 yards, and Grant McKinney did his part with 1 carry for 11yards.

On the other side of the ball, Evan Pavlacky and Mathew Snider shone with 4 tackles each. McKinney, Morgan Simmons, and Gilmore Stockdale had 3 tackles each with Simmons also providing a fumble recovery. Seawell, Emment Barrett, Donald Pinon, Duncan Franklin, and Randy Redman each supported their team 2 tackles each.

When asked about this week’s performance by the Jr. Reds, Coach Turner said, “As you can see everyone had something to do with this game. We never had to punt the ball and our linemen were making tackles at the line of scrimmage. We played really good football on both sides of the ball and we are very pleased with the way the team played.”

Looking forward to next week, Turner said, “Now we have to prepare for the Jr. Cats. We need to win this game to win League and get a first round play-off bye.”

JV:
Saturday’s game against the Lions ended in a loss for the Jr. Redskins JV team with a final score of 14-30.
BANTAM:
Saturday’s game against the Lions ended in a loss for the Jr. Redskins Bantam team with a final score of 16-20.
* Next week, Saturday, October 10th, the Calaveras Jr. Redskins play against the Sonora Jr. Cats at Calaveras High School. Mighty Mites begin at 1:30am, Bantam at 3:00pm, JV at 5:00pm and Varsity at 7:00pm.
