Senator Dave Cox Calls for Consideration of Economic Impact In Deliberations of Park Closures~by Nghia Nguyen Demovic
An avid promoter of Calaveras County and its richness, State Senator Dave Cox will speak before business and community leaders at the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, September 25th. The luncheon will take place at Camps’ restaurant in Angels Camp at noon. One hundred people are expected to attend. “Tourism is an important industry in Calaveras County,” said Sen. Dave Cox who represents the MotherLode in the state Legislature. “The Governor and state officials must consider the impacts of park closures to the local economy in their deliberations.”.....
Sen. Cox added, “Unemployment is unacceptably high as well-paying jobs in the logging industry have disappeared. Calaveras County residents cannot afford to take another blow to the local economy.”
Given the state’s $24 billion budget shortfall, the Governor and officials at the California Department of Parks and Recreation are grappling with a possible closure of 100 parks statewide.
A small business owner, Cox understands the impacts of legislation and the state budget on jobs and businesses. Cox has consistently supported measures that promote job creation and discourage those measures that increase regulations, thus, earning him a perfect score from the California Senator Dave Cox represents the residents of the First Senate District, which includes all or portions of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Lassen, Placer, Plumas, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Sacramento and Sierra Counties.
