Largest local "Tea Party" Yet....Hundreds fill Utica Park~with Video Enclosed by John Hamilton

Angels Camp, CA...Utica park was filled on Saturday afternoon to hear former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack speak. Sheriff Mack is a constitutional scholar who after his law enforcement career still lectures extensively on Constitutional issues. He came to national prominence for when as Sheriff he challenged the Clinton administration on the Constitutionality of parts of the Brady Bill....

The "Tea Party" movements have been gaining significant political movement throughout the country. They are loosely aligned groups that have banned together to promote fiscal responsibility at the national level. As an example a huge rally filled the national mall this weekend.

Sheriff Mack's speech while not centrally tied to taxation or fiscal policy highlighted the role of state, individual and local right inherent in our constitution. Many on the left and right side of the political isle at a National level tend to gloss over the significant power still vested in our local and state governments.

The thorniest issue goes to the heart of the profound fiscal issues we face. Local Sheriff's actually have the power to curtail even IRS activity at a local level. Republicans and Democrats in the Federal Government are loath to admit that much of the presumed power of the Federal Government is actually at the allowance of the States. If any states would actually be willing to go without federal funding while highly unlikely would shift the balance of power decidedly back to the local level.

It is easy to label the Tea Parties as just a right wing fringe group. Many of the arguments they raise are many of the same questions the left side of the isle raise when they are in the minority.

Video of his speech is below and we will be providing a higher quality version of his speech as well
