Master Gardeners to Discuss Drought Tolerate Plants at Next Open Garden Day!
Master Gardeners August Open Garden Day will be held August 22nd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Demonstration Garden at the Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. The featured topic, “Drought Tolerant Plants,” will be presented at 10:30 AM. The long, hot, dry summers of the foothills can be a challenge for any gardener. In addition, the increasing cost and scarcity of water can make gardening expensive and complicated. Home gardeners facing these problems will should attend the August 22 Open Garden Day to learn more about drought tolerant plants....
Master Gardeners will explain what a drought tolerant plant is, recommend some of the best drought tolerant plants for this area, suggest ways to establish and maintain these plants, and offer resources for more information.
Gardening information is offered free of charge. In addition to the main topic the Learning Center will be staffed by Master Gardeners willing to answer questions and distribute reference information. Tours of the Demonstration Garden are also available.
The very popular Children’s Garden is open to children of all ages. At 10 AM there will be a children’s program offered to teach all about pumpkins and gourds.
When the garden is not open, home gardening assistance is offered by Master Gardeners through the Help Line: 754-2880. Call the number, leave a message regarding the problem, and a Master Gardener will return your call.
